Description:

Undergraduate Teaching Labs at Johns Hopkins is a new 4 story, 105,000 sf state of the art laboratory building at Johns Hopkins Homewood campus, which utilized BIM technology to coordinate the installation of vast amounts of piping conduit and ductwork. Items of interest include both active, and passive chilled beam cooling, hydronic radiant floor heating, custom energy recovery air handling units and variable exhaust volume devices, serving over 145 fume hoods. The labs are equipped with mobile casework, fume extractor arms, and point of use vacuum systems in addition to the building lab vacuum system. The project was awarded a LEED Silver Certificate. Southern Mechanical Inc. was awarded the 2013 Baltimore Building Congress & Exchange Craftsmanship Award.

Description:

The Acute Care Pavilion at Anne Arundel Medical Center is an 8 story 300,000 square foot expansion. It included 4 levels of patient rooms, a surgical level, an emergency department, a pediatric emergency department, and a kitchen with dining area. The project included 1,500 tons of cooling accomplished through the use of twin centrifugal chillers. (3) 500 hp boilers provide heating for the complex. (7) new custom air handling units were also installed as part of this project. The Acute Care Pavilion was awarded a LEED Gold Certificate.

Description:

The New Main Entrance and Heart Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center is a 135,000 sf addition and renovation to the existing hospital. Work included a new 150,000 cfm custom rooftop air handling unit with enclosure, and various other equipment to support the operation of a consolidated heart institute. Components of the project include cardiac cath lab, cardiac out patient, and inpatient units.
